The Master's Programme in Strategic Communication is aimed at students from diverse academic backgrounds within the field of communication and focuses on critically understanding and implementing strategic communication. Strategic communication refers to professional communication that contributes to achieving both short- and long-term goals, organizational as well as societal.
The programme equips you to work in a rapidly changing media and communication environment. You will develop practical skills in strategic storytelling, content production, and visual design, gain in-depth knowledge of digital platforms and social media in strategic contexts, and receive training in scientific methodology, effective writing, and critical thinking. The education is built around two integrated tracks running in parallel: one focusing on research and critical analysis of communication, and the other aimed at developing communication skills relevant to a professional career.
During the first semester, you will be introduced to key perspectives on communication and media as they relate to the strategic communication of contemporary organizations, with a particular focus on critical approaches. You will then engage in content production as part of a production assignment. This is followed by a course exploring multimodality as an approach to analyzing visual communication. The semester concludes with a course on the role of social media from a strategic communication perspective.
In the second semester, you will apply and integrate the technical skills and communication abilities developed in previous courses to create a video campaign. This is followed by a research methods course that prepares you for the final independent project. In the independent project, you will carry out a full research study relevant to the contemporary field of media and communication studies.
Throughout the programme, you will work individually, in pairs, and as part of a team. The programme encourages creativity, independence, and active learning. The language of instruction is English and applicants need to be proficient in the English language to be eligible for admission.
