The first edition of the NEOLAiA Summer Academy of Entrepreneurship for bachelor students (SUMMA-Bac) concluded in May with an onsite week in Salerno, Italy. Students from across the alliance worked in teams to develop business ideas, attended workshops and visited companies.

- It taught me so much about teamwork, communication, and believing in your ideas, says Alva Jakobsson, one of three ORU students attending the course.

Alva and her team worked on a case to transform a traditional energy and internet supply company into an integrated digital utility platform for small and medium sized enterprises.

Alva explains:

- The idea is based on a “Smart SME Utility Bundle,” where businesses in tourism, agriculture, and small-scale industry gain access to fiber connectivity, cybersecurity, cloud services, smart energy monitoring, charging infrastructure, and solar/CER solutions through a single platform, one app, and a local provider.

The purpose is to simplify digitalization and energy management for rural businesses. This would enable the case company to generate recurring revenue, and to reinforce its position as a regional infrastructure and innovation partner.

Alva and her team made a convincing case, which was finally selected as the best pitch.
