About Andreas Mårdh

Andreas Mårdh is a senior lecturer in education at Örebro University. His main research interests are in the political and ideological dimensions of history didactics (i.e. teaching and learning history). In a broader sense, his work concerns the relationship between history, citizenship education and identity formation. Theoretically, he makes use of pragmatist educational philosophy, political discourse theory, continental didactic theory and historiography from below. At the present, he conducts research into the practice of teaching 'The People's History' at Swedish Folk High Schools. Additionally, he conducts participatory action research focusing on the development of students' relation to their local history. Mårdh is a member of the research environment ESERGO (Environmental and Sustainability Education Research Group Örebro). As a member of this group, he studies the existential aspects of environmental and sustainability education.

Mårdh has been active in the university’s teacher education programmes since 2013. As a lecturer, course director and thesis advisor, he has taught courses on didactics, history of education, curriculum theory and philosophy of science.
