About Anna Drakenberg

Anna Drakenberg is a registered nurse with a master's degree from Karolinska Institute specialized in intensive care. Anna Drakenberg works as a cardiothoracic intensive care nurse at Örebro university hospital and is a Ph.D. student at the School of Health Sciences, Örebro University.


 The title of Anna Drakenbergs Ph.D. project is “Family health promotion and family involvement in connection with open-heart surgery” which aims at exploring the impact and significance of family involvement in care when one family member undergoes open-heart surgery. The effect of “Health-promoting conversations” on patient and family’s stress, recovery, health, and involvement in care will be evaluated. A questionnaire measuring family involvement is under development, and the health-economic values of the intervention Health-promoting conversations will also be explored.


 In 2017 Anna Drakenberg founded the national network for Cardio-Thoracic Intensive care Nurses in Sweden. The network is a structured platform for knowledge exchange and development within the field of cardo-thoracic intensive care. The aim is to provide evidence-based, equal nursing care nationwide. All eight Cardio-Thoracic clinics in Sweden are represented in the network, which holds meetings twice a year.
