About Diana Omboli
Elisabeta Diana Omboli is a PhD student in Bioinformatics, affiliated with both the X-HiDE and Rosetta@oru.se´s research initiatives. Her academic career started with a BSc in Biotechnology and then continued with a MSc degree in Bioinformatics, completed by a thesis in “transcriptomic analyses applied to the differentiation potential of hiPSCs into organoids”.
Diana´s research project focuses on hybrid models for combined mechanistic and statistical modelling of inflammation phenotypes and dietary response. Low grade inflammation is often found in many common disease, including cardiovascular disease and particles-induced lung disease, and can also be influenced by what we eat. Together with X-HiDE and Rosetta, she aims to develop novel strategies that surpass the sometimes unreliable and cost-intensive conventional approaches to assess inflammation. She will try to do this by combining mechanistic understanding of inflammation with patient-specific data. The goal is to use these models to achieve a more accurate classification of patients into meaningful subgroups, enhance the understanding of the inflammatory mechanisms, and identify common patterns or biomarkers of inflammation that may present across different conditions.
