About Inga Rós Valgeirsdóttir

Inga Rós Valgeirsdóttir is a Medical Doctor (M.D.), specialized in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Consultant). She works clinically at the Örebro University Hospital with focus on women´s health and women with diabetes during pregnancy. She is a doctoral student since December 2020 at the Institution for Medical Science at Örebro University.

Research

Inga Rós got her medical degree from Iceland University in 2010. She has worked at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology since 2012. Her research study during residency involved diet and insulin treatment for women with Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).

Her doctoral project touches on various aspects of screening and treating GDM, mainly register based studies using the Swedish Medical Birth Register and the CDC4G-study (www.cdc4g.se), that evaluates the consequences of the new recommended diagnostic criteria for GDM in Sweden.

Teaching

Inga Rós is involved in various teaching moments and examination of medical students as a part of a Teaching group for the Theme Reproduction and Development for different phases of the Undergraduate Medical Programme at the School of Medical Sciences, Örebro University. Inga Rós has supervison of teaching specific clinical moments for medical students (both 6th and 9th term) at Örebro University. For 2 years (2020-2022) Inga Rós supervised the Clinical Training for Medical Students at Örebro University as a part of their course in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Theme Reproduction and Development (9th term). 

Assignments

Inga Rós is a member of a National Working and Reference Group for Diabetes in Pregnancy for the Swedish Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Inga Rós has been a board member in the interest group for Residents in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Sweden (OGU) where she, among other things, was responsible for sending out and analysing a national survey for the residents work environment and conditions and organizing a 2-day national conference for Residents in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Sweden. During her internship Inga Rós was also a board member in the Icelandic Junior Doctor Association where she was chairman for the Social Committee.
