About Veikko Pelto-Piri

Veikko Pelto-Piri is doctor of medicine and have a background in social work. He works in the psychiatry at Region Örebro County and with research at the University Health Care Research Center.

Research

His research mainly focuses on psychiatric inpatient care. The ongoing project aims to evaluate the implementation of Safewards, an evidence-based program for violence prevention. He also researches on issues such as ethics, informal coercion and violence.

Teaching and assignments

Veikko Pelto-Piri is teaching on the doctoral program at Örebro University. He often lectures to staff in Sweden about ethics, violence prevention and Safewards. In the area of psychiatry, he is responsible, among other things, for Difficult meetings, a two-day training program for psychiatric staff regarding prevention and management of violence.
