Grasping the concepts of sex and gender is crucial to understanding the health of individuals, which also applies to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Accordingly, a focus on sex and gender will lead to better research and improved disease management, ultimately benefiting patients with IBD. Within the Nordic collaborative project Nordtreat (NORDTREAT - The Nordic IBD treatment strategy trial) we continuously reflect on and incorporate sex, gender and diversity considerations to strive for equality in all aspects of our research.
