Development of technology and strategies for treatment of historical sulphidic mine waste deposits. Trials of reactive systems and geological barriers. Laboratory experiments are performed in order to study weathering mechanisms of sulphidic waste. In addition to the laboratory experiments pilot and field scale experiments are performed. Monitoring and evaluation of performed reclamations are also made. The aim of the project is to study in situ stabilisation, changed weathering during addition of amendments changing the chemistry within the waste deposit and anaerobic oxidation of sulphides through Fe(III) at alkaline pH.
