LDA Open Access & Working Paper Series
The LDA Open Access & Working Paper Series is a new digital publication channel established by the Law, Digitalisation and AI (LDA) research environment at Örebro University.
About the Series
Its purpose is to enable the rapid dissemination of scholarly work addressing highly topical questions at the intersection of digitalisation, artificial intelligence, and law.
In a field characterised by swift technological development and constantly evolving regulatory landscapes, the series offers researchers an agile outlet for making their findings accessible to the academic community and the public without the delays typically associated with traditional publishing.
Publications in the series are assigned ISBN numbers by Örebro University. In addition, the series may publish open access material that carries its own ISBN — for instance, where open access rights have been secured for contributions to edited volumes or anthologies, depending on the agreement with the respective publisher.
Scope & Submission Criteria
To be considered for publication, a submission must address digitalisation or artificial intelligence while also incorporating a legal scholarly perspective. The series welcomes contributions employing a range of legal methodologies and approaches, including but not limited to:
| Legal Dogmatics | Legal Policy | Sociology of Law | Comparative Law |
| EU & International Law | Law & Technology | Legal Theory | Legal Informatics |
All submissions undergo an editorial review. The editorial team reserves the right to decline material deemed, for example, offensive, or containing excessively one-sided political content. The aim is to maintain a scholarly standard while ensuring rapid publication.
Pre-Print Compatibility
Authors considering future publication of their work in more established channels are encouraged to verify that the intended journal permits pre-prints or working papers. It is worth noting that many journals — including those indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) — do accept pre-print publications. Nevertheless, policies vary, and authors are strongly advised to carefully consult the specific guidelines of the journal they plan to submit to before publishing in this series.
Important Note for Authors
Publishing in this series does not preclude subsequent publication in peer-reviewed journals, provided that the target journal's policy permits pre-prints. Always verify the relevant journal's pre-print and working paper policy before submitting your manuscript to this series.
Editorial Team
The series is managed by an editorial team with expertise spanning tax law, digitalisation, civil law, and legal theory. An editorial committee is currently being established to further strengthen the review process.

The LDA Research Environment
The research environment "Law, Digitalisation and AI" (LDA) at Örebro University explores the interplay between law and emerging technologies such as digitalisation and artificial intelligence. Led by Magnus Kristoffersson, LDA is part of the university's Crises and Transformation profile area.
The research focuses on analysing how technological advancements impact the legal system and how law can be integrated with technical solutions. Automation within the legal field offers opportunities to streamline processes and increase the accessibility of legal services, but also presents challenges regarding the distribution of responsibility and ethical considerations. Through national and international collaborations and an interdisciplinary approach, LDA aims to develop legal frameworks suited to the digital era.
