Newborn infants that suffer from perinatal asphyxia can be treated with therapeutic hypothermia (TH) during 72 hours. Research has shown that TH, where the body temperature is lowered to 33.5 degrees celcius reduces the risk of negative longterm effects in the brain. There are however no concensus regarding pain relief or sedation during the treatment and a systematic review will therefor be performed.
