There are many advantages of involving parents in neonatal pain management for the benefit not only of the infant and parent, but also in the interest of health care, i.e. by reducing opioid use and improving interprofessional collaboration and family-centered care. However, there currently remains a knowledge-to-practice gap in parent-delivered management of infants’ procedure-related pain. The aim of this global survey is to investigate the role of parents in neonatal pain management throughout the world. Specific aims: a) To which extent are parents involved in pain management at neonatal units, and b) if local guidelines promote parent-delivered interventions in neonatal pain management? The findings will be related to type of neonatal care and demographic features.
