Security-Aware Software Architecture (3 ECTS)

Nova Building, Örebro University

Security-Aware Software Solutions is an ERASMUS+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) course, i.e. is an innovative short mobility programme combining hybrid and classroom learning.

A short course description:

Designing secure and dependable software systems requires understanding how architectural decisions affect security and other quality attributes. The focus of this course is on how to design, analyze, and evaluate software architectures with security awareness integrated into every stage of development. Students will learn core architectural concepts, patterns, and quality attributes, together with security fundamentals (CIAA: Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability, Accountability) and basic security mechanisms (building blocks). The course introduces security-aware design tactics and architectural evaluation methods, such as the Architecture Tradeoff Analysis Method (ATAM), to assess trade-offs among key quality attributes.
