Wendy Hill

Wendy Hill, instructor

Wendy is a research occupational therapist working with the Atlantic Clinic for Upper Limb Prosthetics in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, which specializes in upper limb myoelectric fittings and provides service to clients of all ages from all over Atlantic Canada.

The Limb Clinic is housed within the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of New Brunswick where Wendy is involved in research in the areas of upper limb motion analysis, outcome measures, and prosthetic hand control. Wendy helped establish the Upper Limb Prosthetic Outcome Measures group that developed a set of guidelines for outcome measure use in the field of upper limb prosthetics. She created an updated version of the UNB Test of Prosthetic Function. She also is an instructor for the course required by clinicians and researchers to become certified raters of the Assessment of Capacity for Myoelectric Control (ACMC) and is involved in research to validate new versions of the ACMC.

Cathrine Widehammar

Cathrine Widehammar, instructor

Cathrine is an occupational therapist, hand therapist and PhD with a dual position, lecturer and researcher at the Örebro University and clinician at the Limb deficiency and arm prostheses center, Örebro University hospital. The center is one of four national centers for limb difference and upper limb amputation in Sweden.

In her doctoral studies Cathrine focused on the use of myoelectric arm prostheses, and in 2021 she defended her thesis "Benefit and use of myoelectric arm prostheses - outcomes, influencing factors and experiences". In the thesis she uses ACMC in one of the studies to compare the use of multifunctional prosthesis with standard prosthetic hands. Additionally, she has developed a method for training patients in how to use myoelectric prosthesis, Stepwise Training for an Advanced and Integrated prosthetic Routine, STAIR.

In recent years, she has also been involved in the validation of the new version of the ACMC and has become an instructor for the ACMC training courses.
