School of Music, Theatre and Art

The Academic Orchestra

The Academic Orchestra is the university's own symphony orchestra, aimed primarily at students, staff and alumni, but also at others who have a passion for orchestral music.

We play music from the symphony orchestra's standard repertoire as well as newly written and, for example, film and game music. We have performed Orff's “Carmina Burana”, Beethoven's Fifth and Mozart's 21st Piano Concerto with Hans Pålsson as soloist and premiered new music written by composition students. We have collaborated with choirs and other orchestras and ensembles.

Rehearsals usually take place on Wednesday evenings 18.30-21.00 in the Concert Hall of the School of Music. The orchestra is led by Katarina Andreasson and Anders Nordquist.

If you have any questions, please contact Anders Nordquist.
