Crowd Counting in Images

Motivation and scope

Crowd counting or crowd estimation is the task of counting the number of a specific object that exist in an image. Usually, the object of interest is counting the number of people in a crowd. Recent scientific progress in deep learning has resulted in a number of powerful machine learning algorithms for crowd counting that opens up the possibility for new and interesting applications.

Specific tasks

The task in this project is to train and implement a state-of-the-art crowd counting algorithm for counting the number of bees in an image.

Necessary skills

Good programming skills in at least one of the following: Python, Tensorflow, Keras, PyTorch, and/or Matlab. Basic knowledge in machine learning.

Benefits

You will learn how to work on a machine learning project using crowd counting algorithms.
