Research in Statistics develops models and methods which make it possible to draw conclusions from empirical data riddled with random variation. The methods can be used for description, inference and prediction in most fields of scientific inquiry. The research in Statistics at Örebro University is focused on methods for analysis of observational data, in particular survey methodology, analysis of register data, time series analysis and econometrics with a strong Bayesian flavour.
Courses for Doctoral Students in Statistics
A collaboration in the course offerings for doctoral students in statistics (GRAPES) means that some doctoral courses are offered at Örebro University, while others are offered at other universities.
The first year of the doctoral programme in statistics is devoted mainly to taking courses. The first-year courses are often taught together with courses in the Master’s Programme in Statistics. More advanced courses are often offered within the framework of GRAPES and are taken jointly with doctoral students from other universities.
Here you can read more about GRAPES (Swedish Network for Graduate and Postgraduate Education in Statistics).
