Arrival information for Exchange & Masters students

Welcome to Örebro!
As your arrival approaches, here are some important reminders to help you prepare for your stay. Please read the following information carefully to ensure a smooth move-in process.

Housing is allocated to make the best possible use of the available student rooms.
All our accommodations are reserved for international students and staff only. To create an international atmosphere, we aim to provide a mix of nationalities and genders within the housing areas.

Please note that the first day of your rental agreement is not the same as the first day of the semester. See the exact dates [here].
If you plan to arrive earlier than your rental start date, you will need to arrange alternative accommodationfor that period.

Official arrival day for Spring 2026:
January 18th, between 10:00–18:00.

If you arrive on a weekend or outside visiting hours, you will need to arrange your own temporary accommodation before moving in.

To pick up your key and sign the lease:
Go to Housing Office in Långhuset (L1613)
Bring your ID for verification

Note: Only the person signing the lease can pick up the key and sign the contract.

Inspect your apartment upon arrival.


Report any issues to the Housing Office at housing@oru.se within three days of your arrival.
Please note that the apartment may have some dust or odours from being vacant between semesters. Run the taps if the water traps are dry.
Always include your name, address, and apartment number when contacting the Housing Office.
Check the laundry room to make sure your key works and that you understand how to book a time slot.
Locate the waste disposal areas and confirm that your key provides access.
Check where to receive mail and add your name to the mailbox if necessary.

  • Your apartment is furnished with basic furniture and equipment. Items present must remain at move-out. Check the inventory list on the webpage
  • The student union Nexus organizes second-hand events for furniture and home items. Stay updated on information from them.
  • For hygiene, always use bed linens: pillowcases, sheets, and duvet covers.
  • If living in a shared apartment or corridor, agree with your roommates on cleaning responsibilities for common areas.
