Flammable goods

Flammable goods are a collective term for flammable gases, flammable liquids and fire-reactive substances. All flammable goods are covered by the Act (2010:1011) and the Ordinance (2010:1075) on flammable and explosive goods.

Flammable gases

Gases or gas mixtures which form a flammable mixture with air at 20 °C and a standard pressure 101.3 kPa.

Flammable liquids

Liquids with a flash point not exceeding 100 °C. The flash point is the lowest temperature at which a liquid can give off vapour to form an ignitable mixture in air. Flammable liquids are classified by their flash point, as shown below.

Fire-reactive substances

Substances or mixtures which may cause or aggravate a fire but which are not flammable gases or liquids. The fire-reactive substances defined by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency as substances covered by the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods (2010:1011) are as follows:

  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Organic peroxides
  • Ammonium nitrate
  • Weakly nitrated nitrocellulose
