NEOLAiA – our European University

Örebro University is collaborating with eight other European higher education institutions in NEOLAiA – an alliance of young universities with strong rankings and distinct regional roots. Through NEOLAiA (from the Greek word for youth), new networks and international opportunities are created for our students, researchers, and staff.
Cooperation within NEOLAiA includes education and research, through:
- Student, faculty and staff exchanges
- Joint courses and programmes
- Short-term hybrid courses and summer schools
- Collaborations between research groups and individual researchers
- Collaboration with regional actors
Collaboration also takes place in various other areas, including pedagogical development, administration, equality and gender equality, as well as marketing activities.
European Universities Initiative
The European Commission has designated NEOLAiA as a so-called European University, within the framework of the European Universities Initiative (EUI). The EUI aims to strengthen strategic partnerships between higher education institutions in the EU, enhance the international competitiveness of European universities, and provide increased opportunities for the internationalisation of education, research, and collaboration.
NEOLAiA has received EUR 14.4 million in EU funding to develop this collaboration between 2025 and 2027.
