Singing, music and a bonfire – celebrate Walpurgis Night at Örebro Castle

Archers light the bonfire during the Walpurgis Night celebration in front of Örebro Castle.

On Thursday 30 April, Örebro University, Örebro Municipality and the Örebro County Administrative Board are hosting a traditional Walpurgis Night celebration by Örebro Castle.

The hour-long event will feature choral singing, a spring speech, instrumental music and the traditional bonfire, to be lit by archers from the upper secondary school Alléskolan in Hallsberg.

Åke Ingerman, vice-chancellor of Örebro University, Albina Olausson, Student Union president, and Anna-Karin Andershed will be taking part in the programme.

The musical setting will be provided by Örebro University Choir, the Salvation Army Band, and musicians from the School of Music. The artistic director is Fredrik Berglund, Director Cantorum at Örebro University.

“The Walpurgis Night celebration at the castle is a time-honoured tradition that brings together music, our community and the spirit of spring. We’re looking forward to once again welcoming both Örebro residents and visitors to an enchanting evening together,” says Fredrik Berglund.

The organisers warmly welcome everyone to a splendid spring evening in central Örebro. The celebrations begin at 21:00.
