About Asgeir Tryggvason

Ásgeir Tryggvason is associate professor in Education at Örebro University and is the coordinator for the research environment ESERGO

His research focuses on environmental and sustainability education (ESE), with special interest in the role of emotions/passions, identities, and conflicts in classrooms. His theoretical focus is on agonism in education and Didaktik theory. Currently, he is working on the research project Environmental and Sustainability Education Meets the Reality of Schooling.

He also conducts research in the DecoPrax project, which aims to empirically investigate the possibilities and challenges of incorporating decolonial praxis in the teaching of global justice issues.

2015-2020 he was a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Utbildning & Demokrati [Education & Democracy]. 

Since 2011 he has been teaching at the teacher education program, mainly on courses about curriculum theory and didactics (Didaktik). He also teaches an ESE course for gratuate students.
