About Maria Lodefalk

Maria Lodefalk is a paediatrician, working as a consultant at the Paediatric Department, Örebro University Hospital, and an affiliated researcher at the Faculty of Medicine and Health, Örebro University. She defended her thesis on food habits and gastrointestinal function in adolescents with type 1 diabetes at the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, in 2009. Her present research focuses on both paediatric endocrinology and molecular biological changes in human placenta in relation to maternal, foetal and neonatal characteristics. Lodefalk is responsible for a large sample collection of placenta and cord blood samples, which has given rise to one thesis, so far.
