About Maria Lodefalk

Maria Lodefalk is a consultant in pediatrics with a focus on endocrinology and an associate professor at Örebro University. She has supervised three doctoral students to their dissertations – two as a co-supervisor and one as main supervisor. She is currently the supervisor of two doctoral students.

Lodefalk's research deals with Growth and pubertal disorders and spans a wide age range – from the fetal period to young adulthood. The research methods include both experimental and observational studies, as well as laboratory analyses and national registers.

Maria Lodefalk is responsible for a large sample collection at Örebro University Hospital containing approximately 10,000 placental samples with associated umbilical cord blood samples and clinical data. She also leads the recently started research group Pediatric Research Centre and participates in teaching at the Medical Program at Örebro University. Lodefalk divides her working time between the Department of Pediatrics, Örebro University Hospital, and the University Health Care Research Centre, Region Örebro County.
