About Ulrika Olausson

Ulrika works as a research advisor to the HS faculty. She has 25 years of research experience in media and communication studies, the last ten years as professor, first at Örebro University and then at Jönköping University. She is internationally well-established in the field of environmental communication.

Ulrika defended her dissertation, Citizenship and Globalisation: The Discursive Construction of Political Identity, at Örebro University in 2005. She was appointed Associate Professor in 2009 and Professor in 2012 at the same university. After obtaining her PhD, Ulrika has been project leader of and participant in a number of externally funded research projects. She has also served as referee for grant applications, both nationally and internationally.

Ulrika's current research focuses on the role of communication in establishing "deep sustainability". Her most recent book  The Ethics of Sustainable Communication: Overcoming the World of Opposites is an example of this nondual approach.
