David Krishna Menon
David Krishna Menon, born in India, is an eminent figure in neurocritical care and neuroanaesthesiology. He serves as professor and Head of the Division of Anaesthesia and is a fellow of medical sciences at Queens’ College, University of Cambridge. He is globally acknowledged as a leading authority in brain injury research. His career is defined by pioneering contributions to traumatic brain injury (TBI) management and he ranks among the most cited clinical neuroscientists.
David Krishna Menon’s research spans brain injury mechanisms, advanced neuroimaging, and critical care innovations. His work has unveiled critical insights into TBI's pathophysiology and long-term effects.
As founder of the Neurosciences Critical Care Unit (NCCU) at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, David Krishna Menon established a centre of excellence for neurological and neurosurgical care. He also initiated the UK’s first accredited neurocritical care training programme and is a founding fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences. His leadership extends to global initiatives, notably the European Brain Injury Consortium, the International Neurotrauma Society, and clinical megatrials.
