MoveCare (Multiple-actOrs Virtual Empathic CARgiver for the Elder)

MoveCare develops and field-tests an innovative multi-actor platform that integrates an existing robotic system with environmental sensors, a virtual community and an activity center, to provide assistance, transparent monitoring and activities to the elder at home. The elder is not required to wear any specific sensor or to change his/her habits.

ORU's work focuses on the development of the Virtual Caregiver and the Context Recognition. Using environmental sensors and knowledge-based reasoning techniques, the MoveCare system is able to recognize the current situation in the elder's home, such as activities he/she is currently performing, his/her level of socialization or living habits, in order to issue reminders, provide assistance or suggest activities in a proactive way.
