Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) consists of a large group of chemicals that are suspected to pose a risk to the environment due to persistence, mobility and toxicity. This project aims at screen the Swedish environment for substances that are recently being highlighted as possible new environmental contaminants and to assess the total organofluorine content. The objectives are to sample both background sites and potential point sources with emphasis on the aquatic environment. The results will provide insight in the current environmental contamination of new PFASs and the proportion of organofluorines that has not yet been identified.
