The Center for Health and Medical Psychology (CHAMP) focuses on the role of psychological factors in the development of illness and health. We study the fundamental mechanisms that drive health or illness so as to utilize this information for clinical assessments as well as preventive and treatment interventions. Because clients often suffer from multiple problems we employ the so-called transdiagnostic approach that looks at underlying processes that may drive co-occurring problems e.g. depression and pain or stress and sleep. Our research aims therefore to be at the forefront of theory as well as clinical applications.

CHAMP is involved in:

  • Basic research studying mechanisms and theory e.g. in population studies or laboratory investigations
  • Clinical trials investigating the use of assessment instruments or new intervention methods
  • Education of a variety of students at Örebro University and via continuing education programs
