Research subject

The project is studying government responsibility for compensating people with disabilities for added costs. This responsibility is governed mainly by the Swedish Handicap Compensation and Care Allowance Act, which is expected to be replaced by a new social insurance code as of 1 January 2011. A main issue is the wording of the law and how the courts are interpreting the regulations. Another question is the extent to which the regulations hold to the disability policy principle of financial equality, i.e., that a disability should not have negative impact on the individual's financial circumstances.
