Individualised nutrition – listen to your body’s needs

Recently, our researchers Samira Prado and Julia Rode encouraged the readers of Örebro University’s weekly research stories in the local and national newspapers to listen to their body’s needs in terms of healthy eating, when it comes to gut and brain health. Regularly, also Robert Brummer writes about healthy food choices.
“It was great fun to write a story of our research, with a special challenge to write in popular terms in Swedish. I can only recommend doing so and gaining a different perspective!”, Julia posted on social media shortly after the release. Julia’s chronicle showed how caring for our guts, such as by diet, can improve our mental well-being.
Samira also had a great experience working on her outreach piece and shared some details about it: “We are used to writing for researchers. Working together with the communicators from the university to finalise my thoughts in a popular science piece was not only fun but also made me think differently— in a good way— about my research topic.” After the publication of her chronicle, she posted on LinkedIn: “While there is still much to learn about why the same diet affects people differently, we can already become more aware of the connection between what we eat and its impact on gastrointestinal health.”
Both have translated their pieces from Swedish to English: Let your stomach be your own health guide, by Samira & Conscious eating, your friend in dark winter times, by Julia.
