Research subject

The project deals with firms founded by researchers based on academic knowledge, so-called university spin-offs, and how they establish themselves in present network structures or impact their development. The spin-offs generally have limited contacts with established business actors, and their ideas may require that other companies adjust to them, or that the spin-off adjust to such parties. The aim of this project is to firstly map how university spin-offs establish themselves in a network to enable commercialisation of their ideas, and secondly to analyse what spin-off and network consequences such attempts have.

By setting the spin-off and its networking in the centre for the empirical study, we link together two research fields that currently have few connections, but increased shared interests.
