Economics, Globalisation, Second Cycle, 7.5 Credits

We are in the midst of a trade war, and the global trading system is struggling to cope. How do recent trade policy shocks affect jobs, production and welfare in Sweden? What effective trade measures could Sweden, the EU, China and others take? The Globalization course gives you the insights and instruments to study these questions. It explains how tariffs work in large and small countries and how they ripple through global value chains. You will learn more about what are the best responses to tariffs and you will realize that trade is much more than goods crossing borders. Services, data and capital are also crossing borders – and such flows keep growing. The course will take you through the most recent literature, hands-on exercises, and an assignment where you can test out a trade question of your choice.
