Become a mentor for early-career researchers – NEOLAiA

Man in a blue shirt

Shang Gao, senior lecturer at Örebro University’s School of Business and NEOLAiA ESR mentor.

Do you want to help shape the next generation of researchers while developing your own skills and networks? Then becoming a mentor in the NEOLAiA Early Stage Researcher Programme (ESR) could be for you.

A good example of what the programme can achieve is the collaboration between mentor Shang Gao at Örebro University and Kristina Kulikauskienė at Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences in Lithuania.

Together, they have launched a research project on a matter that concerns the entire alliance: what makes collaboration among European universities successful?

Work is well underway, and a survey has already been sent to leaders and key staff at NEOLAiA. Since the study focuses on the alliance itself, NEOLAiA is in effect researching itself – and the findings are expected to provide direct benefits for future collaboration.

“As a mentor, you share your experience, build international networks, and contribute to meaningful, impactful research. It requires a small investment of your time but offers much more in return. It may even open the door to entirely new collaborations,” says Shang Gao.
