Annual SWEGPEC workshop 2023

Örebro University School of Business welcomes you to the Annual Workshop of the Swedish Graduate Program in Economics (SWEGPEC) for PhD students. The meeting will be held at the Clarion Hotel Örebro, November 30 to December 1, 2023. The workshop begins with registration followed by lunch on November 30 and ends with lunch on December 1.

Papers in all fields of economics are welcome. The workshop is organized for PhD students in Economics in the SWEGPEC network, to give them a chance to present and discuss their papers in a friendly and constructive setting before attending international conferences. The workshop language is English.

We are pleased to announce Daniel Waldenström as our keynote speaker. Daniel Waldenström is professor of economics and director of the research program “Taxation and Society” at the Research Institute of Industrial Economics (IFN). The title of his keynote will be “Richer and more equal: Wealth development in the Western world and lessons for policy".

All PhD students and faculty in the SWEGPEC network are welcome to participate. Registration is required for all participants. To register, please send an email to This is an email address by September 30, 2023 with the following information:

  • Special request for meals (allergies, etc.)
  • Whether you need accommodation. The local organizers have made preliminary reservations at Clarion Hotel Örebro.

There is no fee for the workshop. Accommodation (but not travel) will be arranged free of charge for all participants.

If you are a PhD student wishing to present a paper at the workshop, you should also send to the above email address a preliminary title of your paper and an extended abstract (circa 500–1000 words) no later than October 30, 2023.

PhD students presenting a paper at the workshop should then submit an updated version of their paper to the above email address no later than November 15, 2023. Accepted papers will be assigned a senior discussant. A preliminary program and information for discussants will be circulated in due time.
