The research centre AASS arranges a seminar with Joshua Marshall, Visiting Professor at AASS and Associate Professor at Queen’s University (Canada)
Abstract
Applications for robotics in mining and construction are broad and include robotic dozing, excavation, haulage, mapping and surveying, as well as robotic drilling and explosives handling. This talk will introduce AASS visitors Josh, Heshan, Jordan and Lukas, and overview recent collaborative efforts at the Queen’s Mining Systems Laboratory (https://msl.engineering.queensu.ca) with industry partners Barrick (Canada), Atlas Copco (Sweden), Clearpath Robotics (Canada), and others. After a brief (and biased) introduction to robotics in mining, focus will be given to our more recent work on mobile mapping for geotechnical analyses, and on admittance-based autonomous excavation using underground LHD machines.
