Statistics, Inference Theory, Second Cycle, 5 Credits

The course is intended for first year graduate students who major in statistics or in a field where the knowledge of statistics is necessary. It provides the theoretical basis for a complete understanding of statistical methods as is needed for further study of statistics and data science. The syllabus includes parametric and non-parametric models, fundamental concepts of statistical inference, point and interval estimation, and tests of hypotheses. The material will help the students find appropriate statistical methods and apply them correctly to real data, which is important for both theoreticians and practitioners.
