NEOLAiA aims to make a difference in the lives of students and staff

More international exchanges and stronger research collaborations. Örebro University Vice-Chancellor Åke Ingerman hopes the NEOLAiA alliance will make a difference to the everyday lives of students and staff over time.
“It provides a shared gateway to a number of European universities with similar profiles and interests,” he says after his visit to the partner university in Ostrava.

The European university alliance NEOLAiA aims to make it easier for students and staff at Örebro University to participate in international exchanges and collaborative activities.

“I hope our students and staff will benefit from international perspectives and experiences that enrich education, research and university life, while deepening their understanding of Europe,” says Åke Ingerman.

He also views the alliance as an opportunity to strengthen the university’s influence at the European level.

“Within the framework of the next EU framework programme, the alliance could become an important platform for strengthening research networks, creating new opportunities for collaboration, and providing competitive advantages.”

The University of Ostrava invited Åke Ingerman to speak at the academic ceremony, which brought together the university’s senior leadership, deans, researchers, and representatives of the Scientific Board. During his visit, he also met academic representatives from across the institution.

“A visit in person provides the opportunity to meet a broader range of people, from university leaders to students, and to gain a sense of the physical environment in which the university operates. It offers a deeper understanding of both the institution’s dynamics and the conditions under which it operates,” says Åke Ingerman.

He sees a number of opportunities for Örebro University through the NEOLAiA partnership in the years ahead. In addition to increased mobility for students and staff, he highlights research and future European initiatives as particularly important areas.

“We can build structures and networks that bring international perspectives into our activities, ultimately contributing to stronger education and research,” says Åke Ingerman.

Academic ceremony at the University of Ostrava

In mid-October, the University of Ostrava held its annual academic ceremony. The event recognises researchers, teachers and students and celebrates academic achievements. Åke Ingerman attended as an invited guest speaker and highlighted the importance of international cooperation and European university alliances for the future of education and research.
