About Ida Schoultz
Ida Schoultz is an Associate Professor (Docent) and Senior Lecturer in Medical Sciences with a research focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Her work explores the interplay between the intestinal barrier, the immune system, and the microbiota, aiming to increase understanding of the mechanisms underlying disease development. She has particular expertise in experimental models for studying intestinal barrier function, especially the Ussing chamber technique, as well as in molecular biology methods and advanced cell culture models.
She is Deputy Programme Director of the Medical Programme with a focus on biomedicine and teaches in the early semesters, primarily in gastrointestinal physiology.
In addition to research and teaching, Ida also gives lectures aimed at a broader audience on IBD, gut health, and the immune system, and has appeared on Swedish programmes such as Malou after tio and UR Samtiden.
