Development of new technologies, such as additive manufacturing, opens a lot of opportunities to make products which were impossible to manufacture before. But at the same time, new opportunities come with more complexity and often bring hazards for factory workers. One of the examples in metallic powder used in direct metal laser sintering.

Our vision of future factories includes smart multipurpose collaborative robots, supervised from distance by humans. The goal of this project is to develop teleoperated robotic platform capable of doing variety of tasks in the additive manufacturing cell, while being supervised and teleoperated by a human operator. In this scenario, the operator is isolated from the hazardous environment, but the complex task can be performed using operator’s knowledge, skill, and intelligence.
