It's all about the money

The project examines how household finances and money are used, discussed, and negotiated in intimate relationships, from everyday interactions to economic abuse.

Through interviews and focus groups with women and men from different socioeconomic backgrounds, it investigates how economic abuse is experienced, its consequences, and its links to other forms of violence. The project generates new knowledge about a largely overlooked issue with important implications for gender equality, welfare, and social work.

Its aim is to deepen understanding of economic abuse, its characteristics and impacts, and to advance conceptual development in the field, thereby strengthening efforts to prevent, identify, and address economic abuse in society.
