About this project
People with neuropsychiatric disorders such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorders (ASD), who acquire a traumatic brain injury (TBI) are rarely studied within the rehabilitation medicine. The consequences in everyday life, can for people with both disabilities, lead to a more complex life-situation.
Previous studies have identified difficulties, e.g. lack of ability to concentrate, difficulties in interaction with others and attention limitation. Some of the injured are at risk for victimization, abuse and criminality.
The overall purpose of this research is to increase knowledge about the life-situation for people with neuropsychiatric disorders, and with acquired traumatic brain injury. The aim is to focus on the combination of the two disabilities and to study limitations, impact on everyday life and need for rehabilitation.
The study is explorative and based on narrative method and qualitative content analysis.
