Research subject

The research group in Emergency Medicine focuses on the chain of emergency care; i.e. from bystander at the scene of injury/ acute illness, emergency medical dispatching, ambulance service and to the emergency department. Symptoms, time-critical conditions and emergency care of individuals of all ages are studied, from both a patient and a systems perspective. The subject area includes both everyday operations and events when many people are affected, such as major accidents or disasters. The research group in Emergency Medicine is a multidisciplinary research group. Examples of ongoing projects are early identification of sepsis, clinical assessment and referral, patient flow, violence and abuse in emergency care, the care of relatives in the event of suicide and disaster medicine.

The research group includes both senior researchers and doctoral students. The connection to clinical activities in Region Örebro County is strong and is anchored through the University Hospital unit in Emergency Medicine. The group has an extensive international network and collaborations, and its members are regularly engaged on a national level as experts in contexts relating to Emergency and Disaster Medicine.
