Better diabetes diagnosis – FAMILY is a national study starting in 2026 in which siblings or children of patients with type 1 diabetes are tested with the aim of identifying type 1 diabetes earlier than would otherwise be possible. During the course of the study, children are followed with regard to disease progression, health-related quality of life, and their experience of being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at an early stage of the disease. The first sites to initiate data collection are USÖ (Örebro), DSBS (Gothenburg), and SUS (Malmö/Lund).
