Responsibilities for Research Data
This page is for those who are responsible for ensuring that research is done according to applicable legislation and guidelines. It is intended to help you navigate your responsibilities for research data. The content of the page reflects some of the most common challenges.
The starting point for the use and/or generation of research data at Örebro University is set out in the university's research data policy. Research data is openly available (a public document) unless there are reasons for restricting access to persons outside the research project.
Research is often financed by public funds. The goal is to ensure that as much as possible of the research data generated from research conducted at Örebro University is openly accessible and that it follows the international FAIR principles. For this to be possible, the research data used must comply with the regulations, international agreements or guidlines that exist, there must be a clear division of responsibilities, and an infrastructure should be in place to support both the research and the researcher.
The university's delegation of authority states that the dean is responsible for ensuring that research in the schools complies with current regulations. This responsibility may be delegated to the head of department, which has also been done. There is also a guideline, Responsibility in research, where directives aimed at the individual researcher are stated.
