Abstract

This talk gives an overview of the Swarm Exploration Group activities at the Institute of Communications and Navigation of German Aerospace Center. The group research activities are mainly focused on two areas. The first one is an investigation of decentralized (in-network) Bayesian approaches toward estimation and learning of static and dynamic processes under sparsity constraints. In particular, applications of sparse Bayesian learning to kernel methods and identification of PDE parameters under sparsity constraints are discussed. The second area addresses the development of model-based strategies that exploit the structure of the observed processes, and sparsity structure in particular, to accelerate the exploration. The talk discusses the used formalism and demonstrates the performance of the developed methods for synthetic as well as experimental data.
