Statistics, Econometrics, Intermediate Course, 7.5 Credits

Econometrics is concerned with statistical methods suited for estimating and testing models and hypothesis based on economic theory. The methods can be used to validate or invalidate different economic theories and to make predictions about the consequences of different choices made by actors in both the public and private sectors. The principal method covered in the course is multiple linear regression in particular in relation to the complexities that arise when regression models are used with observational data. Applications to cross-section, time series and panel data are treated in the course.
