Arrival and Orientation

Your exchange semester at Örebro University starts with arrival day(s) and continues with a one-of-a-kind 3 or 5 week long "Orientation Programme" (depending on the autumn or spring semester). During the orientation programme we offer a variety of activities, all designed to make the adjustment to Örebro and Sweden as smooth as possible.

Arrival days

During the arrival day(s), new exchange students are greeted on campus by the International Office and Nexus, our international student section at Örebro University. During these days, you will collect the keys to your accommodation from our housing office, meet the International office for a mandatory ID-check and also get to meet/socialise with other international students and the Nexus "fadders" (aka buddies) - if you have signed up to participate in the orientation programme. More information about the orientation programme can be found below.

  • The official arrival day for the spring semester 2026 is January 18th: If you arrive before or after the arrival day(s), please specify when in the arrival form, linked below. If you arrive on the weekend, outside office hours, or before the official arrival day(s), then you will need to arrange your own stay before getting access to the student accommodation.
  • The official start of the spring semester 2026 is January 19th: If you plan to arrive after the start of the semester, please contact the international office. This is very important as late arrival might mean you are not allowed to start the courses you have been accepted for.

Orientation Programme

Practical and academical activities
As a part of the orientation programme, all exchange students will learn about the academic system and Sweden in general. You will learn how things work at the University and in Sweden. These lectures are free of charge and mandatory for all students.

Social activities
The orientation programme also includes many social activities organized by Nexus, both during day- and night time as well as on weekends. If you want to take part of the social activities in the orientation programme, you have to pay a participation fee, which will be added to the invoice for your accomodation if you choose to participate.

  • Extremely enriching overall. Great way to form initial connections with people. I'd highly recommend it to all future exchange students! (Student from spring semester 2025).
  • The OP helped me to make friends, become more open-minded and get to know my way around the city and the campus within a safe and fun environment. (Student from spring semester 2025).
