In Sweden, universities have a rich culture when it comes to introduction weeks, with the purpose of welcoming new students to the city and to campus. Örebro Student Union consists of multiple student sections, each connected to specific study subjects of the university, that students can become members in. Since of 2024, the student union now also have an international student section, called Nexus!
The Orientation Programme (OP for short) is a collaboration between Örebro University and Nexus. Approximately 180 students join Nexus each semester, and around 60 fadders (buddies) are engaged to offer exchange students the best experience in Sweden. International Master's students are also welcome to join the OP together with Nexus, so it's a good mix of students with different backgrounds and nationalities.
Practical and academical activities
As a part of the orientation programme, all exchange students will learn about the academic system and Sweden in general. You will learn how things work at the University and in Sweden.
Social activities
Nexus social activities would occur mostly on weekends and evenings and usually includes hang-outs, themed parties, competitions, international dinners, entrance to different bars, restaurants, and clubs, to name a few.
- Extremely enriching overall. Great way to form initial connections with people. I'd highly recommend it to all future exchange students! (Student from spring semester 2025)
- The OP helped me to make friends, become more open-minded and get to know my way around the city and the campus within a safe and fun environment. (Student from spring semester 2025)
