Biopsychosocial Criminology, 7.5 Credits
Biopsychosocial criminology is an emerging field within criminology dealing with biological, psychological, and social factors and the interactions between these sets of factors as explanations to crime. This course deals with the basic concepts within biopsychosocial criminology and what kind of research methodology commonly used within the field. The course involves an orientation in current research, including research on the importance of genes, biology, psychophysiology, nervous system, and pre- and perinatal factors, as well as, social and other environmental factors in relation to different types of antisocial behaviors including crime. The course also involves insights on how research within the field of biopsychosocial criminology can be used in developing more effective crime prevention strategies.
