This profile involves research geared towards organisation?s planned and strategic communication, i.e. the information and communication activities carried out by companies, government authorities and other organisations to achieve certain purposes and goals. The projects within the field focus primarily on the development of the PR industry, the relationship between PR professionals and journalists, lobbying, and strategic crisis communication. The studies also aim at elucidating specific target groups? attitudes to, and experience of, different types of PR activities and/or public service functions. An important cornerstone of this profile is the role played and the significance had by PR operations in a democracy; another is the way in which the PR profession and PR practice are affected by the development of media and communications. The Media and Communications Department at Örebro University also carries out contract research for various companies and government authorities.
