Research subject

This project studies how satire manifests and functions within the highly commercial system of Hollywood cinema. This is investigated by studying the discursive construction of satire and how audiences are addressed by films in which it manifests, and by relating it to historical and social contexts.

The significance of the project lies in providing insight into the complexity of satire and of its role in contemporary Hollywood cinema and the cultural setting of the United States, while also contributing to the exploration of a field of research (film satire) that is still underdeveloped.
